Crop top, maxi skirt with a thigh high slit, DylanLex…
All through my college years, I sincerely detested the idea of pants. Dresses were my go-to outfit for almost every occasion and I remember having my wardrobe complete with dresses, arranged categorically with a mental note of what would work where and with what. While my love for dresses continues to go strong even after all these years, the aesthetics have now changed by leaps and bounds. With the passage of time I’ve grown to look out for and have begun to appreciate dresses that speak to me through their sharp cuts, inimitable silhouettes and flawless tailoring. I now find minimalism the most powerful way to make a statement and simplicity a classic style route that makes the right kind of noise in a crowd when it comes to the #ArtofDressing. Thus it was no surprise that this impeccably finished dress from the Deepika Padukone for Van Heusen line called me its own before I even had a say.
True to her personal style, the Deepika Padukone for Van Heusen Collection boasts of a number of minimalist dresses that are designed to become classics in your wardrobe. Now knowing the svelte leggy lass that Deepika is, I had some serious doubts of making this collection work when contacted by the guys at POPxo for this collaboration. And given how I am vertically challenged, you’d empathise with my fears. However in complete contrast to my apprehensions, this piece fit me like a dream and I felt every bit the usual confident self that I am, once I slipped into this emerald dress! Well, only a reminder that it’s always worth taking chances when it comes to fashion. The collection also has some well tailored pants and tops that are fit for the upcoming party season without being the predictable blingy. So whether you are an eternal dress lover or a recent convert, the Deepika Padukone for Van Heusen collection is definitely worth a dekko!
In other news, it’s been a short while since I became a part of the POPxo Blog Network (read my interview here) and it feels nothing less than amazing to be a part of something this big and passion driven.
