Trends in fashion are cyclical in nature. Be it the the 70’s bell bottoms, 80’s shoulder pads or even 90’s chokers – we’ve all been there and done that in this very decade! However, it’s bringing back these classic trends with an individualistic spin that makes fashion so interesting and keeps the game unpredictable. Lakmé Fashion Week is a testimony to these changing trends and more and this season was no different.

Rajesh Pratap Singh’s show presented by Reliance Trends was all about reinvention and moving forward whilst still holding on to the essence of the old. Fittingly his collection was an ode to ‘The Punjabi Suit’. Since the collection revolved around nostalgia, the ramp was duly set up with piles of books to create a school-world charm. The show was all about trends and brought together the trendsetters as an extension of this philosophy. Working with linen, cotton, silk in shades of greys, browns and beige, the collection featured cropped pants, asymmetric kurtas, pinafore, jumpsuits and impeccably tailored vests and coats. I personally loved the power-dressing element the designer brought to ramp albeit with a feminine bent for women. The show-stopper for the evening was Jacqueline Fernandez who stole the show in a metallic layered separates look. The highlight of the evening however was the announcement that Reliance Trends is now Trends. With a new store concept and identity, Trends is all about exploring and making fashion more accessible.

If you follow me on Instagram/Twitter/Facebook you must have already seen me drop by the Reliance Trends store earlier to pick an outfit for this show from their new a/w ’16 collection. The collection is complete with everything from dresses to crop tops and skirts to shorts. Knowing my weakness for oxblood, this top was a no brainer. I absolutely love the attention to detail with the light layering! The faux leather leggings with zip detailing on knees with this top made for a match made in heaven and is going to be my go-to for all of this season! I kept the makeup glossy and topped it with my matching signature burgundy pout. While the fashion week mayhem left me with little time to explore, I cannot wait to go back to the store to pick up some more season essentials!
